I watched the news tonight and heard all the reporters blathering about this and that about a child nearly abducted at the Fairgrounds. Since the mother was actually signing our petition at the time the child was snatched and since mother, child, and suspect had at one point been in our tent at the same time, lemme say this about that. Pretty damn scary world we live in. Snatched right under our noses; yeesh.

I remembered that all day as I watched my own near 12 yr old do the total nightbeforeschoolstarts freakout. All day long all she could talk about were her teachers and her fears about them and her classes and her schedule. She tried on every single one of her new outfits. Her bag was packed and repacked and her notebook disassembled and reassembled ad naseum. She whined of her fears of certain classes and danced about in anticipation of others. We set her alarm clock at least 15 times while she kept adjusting and readjusting the radio station. She has to get up to "do her hair" and remake her lunch and brush her teeth another 23 time.

I guess that is why they call this "the most wonderful time of the year."

I prefer ... "free at last, free at last. thank god almight i am free at last."

and, if any teachers are listening ... POUR IT ON! there is no such thing as too much homework.

because of the near abduction yesterday, i held my daughter just a little bit closer today and really tried to pretend that I cared about her school paranoias.

Bastard took away some childhood innocence from her. Thank God he got caught. Hopefully she will not associate the Fair with bad memories.
