Yesterday, during the hotter part of the afternoon, things got very quiet around here. It was too hot to be outside, too hot to work, too hot to do anything but hide in the shade.

Ronnie the Ragin` Cajun` was sittin in front of his booth. I was across the street in the shade of the sheep barn. Suddenly, as though struck by a bolt of lightening, we both reached for our cell fones and clandestinely called each other in hopes of shocking the other with a "HEY!".

I dialed first and got him. Here I was standing across the street from him, calling Milwaukee and back to the Fair. I could see his mouth moving and hear his words. Because of the time delay of the fone relay, I watched his mouth move and after heard the words.

It was like watching a bad japanese monster movie.

Racing up upon us at one point yesterday were two handicapped carts available for rent at the fair. The drivers were two young and very healthy 20 something dudes. Little Ricky next door stopped them cold, did his version of a revivalist minister and suddenly one of them jumped to his feet and did 25 jumping jacks. It was a miracle! The two drivers said they rented the scooters because they were going to be drinking and did not want to be stumbling around. They then sped off racing down the crowded roadway.

Early this morning, it was Mighty Mouse to the rescue once again. Hearing a *thud* outside of the normal crashes bangs and booms that go on here during the course of a night, I peaked outside and saw where a street sweeper had slammed into the toy booth next door and three dolfins were quickly escaping in the strong breeze.

Of course, this fair rat ran to the rescue and once again saved the day.
