There is this unicyclist who peruses the Fair and puts on "impromtu" shows in front of the NiMo exhibit and the News10 exhibit in the Center Court of the Fair near the main gate.
The unicycle itself stands about ten feet high and the cyclist will juggle sabers, knives, and firesticks ... his tricks are fantastic and have that "oooh" and "ahhhh" effect on the large crowd that always gathers around when he does his schtick. His English is good, though the rider speaks with a heavy Romanian or other Eastern European accent
Tuesday, I caught a portion of his act.
My favorite part was at the beginning when he was introducing himself and his show and making all his jokes and warm-ups to get the crowd into his show.
"Please give your money to charity", he said. "She works in downtown Syracuse." (Ba da ... bum).
Anyway ...
As he was talking about the Great New York State Fair and how much wanted to thank them for bringing him here ... he stopped mid-sentence and was looking at me. Bobbing his head left and then right, he finally waved his hand and asked me to move.
APPARENTLY, I was standing in front of a sandwich board sign that pointed out his show and listed his sponsor ...
When he was able to see the sign, he said ".. and I would like to thank my sponsor, SolvayGlass ... who uhhh, ummmm, errrr ... make .... uhhh, ummmm, errrr ... glass stuff."
The guy didnt know his sponsor or what they do.
This was the only moment I laughed AT him. The rest of the show was fantastic. If you see it, don't miss it. _________________ I dont want a life I can live with. I want a life I can't live without.

not sure what happened to the 'skinny german juggling boy' that was in this fellow's spot for the past few years, but bring him back! the new guy is not an adiquate substitute.
and from memory, I think his website was/is Hilby.net somebody e-mail him, and tell him we miss him!
That WAS the skinny German juggling boy. He's been there doing the same schtick for several years now, and he is just as funny as ever. I'm sure the Solvay glass mess up was part of the act, he did it again yesterday.
He also said one of the funniest thing I have heard at the Fair ever: pointing out a large guy in the crowd and making fun of him, he noted the guy was facing the sun and holding his hand up to shade his eyes -- while wearing his baseball cap backwards. He said 'you know that is why those caps were made that way - to block the sun for you.'
