For those of you who might still remember, the past few years I worked at a booth at the Fair for ReconsiDer. (www.reconsider.org). I will not speak for them or their reasons for being absent from this year's Fair. I will note just for the record that ReconsiDer's mission to raise awareness and start the discussion for alternatives to our nation's current drug policy.

For two years, ReconsiDer sat in the same spot wedged between Captain Matt's and the Wool shed. This year, as the Fair opened, the space sat empty and every time I walked on by, I felt a twinge in my tummy. (must be time for a gyro).

Apparently, the Fair lets in people who sign up late ... and today Friday, I found another booth in the spot once reserved for ReconsiDer.

In one of life's great ironies, the booth sitting in the ReconsiDer spot is a head shop, grateful dead memorabilia shop, incense shop, and well, you know.

I did not work my ass off to open headshops. That is not the goal of the legalization movement. I was not sure whether to die from the irony or just be totally offended.

Either way, it matters not. ReconsiDer missed a grande opportunity this Fair to get its message out in an election year. Instead, Bob Marley gets more free tshirt space.
