There are people in this world who are going to regret this year's immersion in the Fair. I have picked up some very bad habits that in some way will carry on forth beyond the Fair into my other dealings.

Ferinstance, yesterday I learned how to use a stadium horn. You know; them long red plastic horns you blow in and really annoy everybody around you? After 11 days of listening to the carnies blowing their innards out the tubes (and later selling them to customers), it was time to get into the fray. Though I am getting better, Satchmo I aint. But I sure am pissing off the locals. I wonder how opposing counsel will react if instead of "Objection", I gave them an earful of stadium horn? My neighbors will surely love my using the horn to summon the child home for dinner.

Speaking of my darling child; it wont be long before she needs therapy. On top of everything else that goes along with having me as her dad, now I query how she is going to deal with me sneaking up on her and yelling out HEY!!!! and then softly saying "how are ya?" HEY!!! whatcha doin?

Tomorrow the Fair ends. The morose sadness that accompanies each last day is creeping upon us. Because it is so busy today and tomorrow, the rats keep scurrying about working so as to ignore the hard reality than in two days, we have to return to the world. I love lawyering and cannot think of anything for which I am better suited. Many consider me damn good at it. Yet, for all the highs and joys of doing the Lord's work in the Court room, there is nothing that more completes my life than these two weeks at the Fair. Cut off from news and the world, from reality and sanity, I can decompress; live in a world of near anarchy, and see a good side to humanity that criminal defense work and matromonial work does not provide. The Fair adds balance to the stoic flaccid emotionally vaccuous world of law. Each is ying and yang to the other. I think it makes me a better person. At least, it makes me more human.
